Summary :
The internship aims to reconstruct agricultural and dietary practices in northern Greece during the Late Bronze Age, through the analysis of archaeobotanical remains (charcoal, seeds and fruits) from the site of Dikili Tash. The student will be required to sort, identify and quantify the remains in order to determine the species utilised and their relative significance; to analyse their spatial distribution in order to reconstruct activities involving the storage, processing, use and consumption of plants within the settlement; and to compare the data obtained with other sites in Macedonia in order to identify any local specificities and regional trends. The student is therefore expected to produce a literature review, drawing primarily on English-language sources. In addition to learning classical methods of carpology, the student will receive initiation to the methods of anthracology and training in statistical analysis, spatial analysis and image processing. This internship will conclude with the writing of a research dissertation, which will lead to a publication in collaboration with archaeologists working at Dikili Tash.
