Summary :

The Steam is a division of the MSH Mondes that, in collaboration with its other services and the stakeholders within its institutional and scientific scope, supports research focused on unpublished audiovisual corpora—whether film-based, analog, or digital (exploration, digitization, analysis, creation). This response to the DIM Pamir call for projects is submitted to strengthen and enhance its equipment in order to expand its capacity to handle diverse audiovisual formats, thereby broadening its expertise and improving the conditions for hosting projects. Indeed, during the first months of its operation, it became clear that Steam would benefit from reinforcing its technical environment in several areas. This enhancement concerns both the processing capabilities for audiovisual corpora (consultation, digitization) and support for research-creation projects to showcase them (filming and recording in various formats). More specifically, Steam is once again applying to DIM PAMIR to: strengthen its capacity to handle film- based (I) and photographic (II) analog formats; Expand its equipment for processing and recording magnetic tapes (III); Acquire digital audiovisual equipment for filming to document its activities and support new productions (IV); Equip itself with a computing environment for reading legacy storage media (V); Support projects created at the dawn of the digital era (VI).
