Summary :

The APF’s annual conference aims to promote palaeontology, facilitate its development and encourage communication between French-speaking palaeontologists. The conference is open to all palaeontological themes (taxonomy, systematics, phylogeny, anatomy, histology, biostratigraphy, palaeoenvironments, palaeogeography, taphonomy, etc.) and all types of organisms from the Precambrian to hominids (vertebrates, invertebrates, plants, microfossils, fungi, bacteria, etc.). From collecting fossils in the field to analysing them in the laboratory, from fundamental to experimental research, from traditional techniques to cutting-edge technologies, not forgetting the history of collections, all aspects of the study of fossils can be addressed at the congress. The Association Paléontologique Française was founded in 1979 to raise the profile of French palaeontology, which was in the minority at international geology conferences. The first congress brought together palaeontologists in 1981. Over time, the association has opened up to the entire French-speaking community. The congress is unique in that it is held in a single general session to enable the entire audience to discover the richness and diversity of current research in palaeontology.
