Summary :

We plan to build the first laser spectrometer based on a novel instrumental technique (OCR-CRDS : Optical- Clock Referenced Cavity Ring-Down Spectroscopy) designed for state-of-the-art measurements of CO2 isotopologue abundances “in five dimensions” (δ13C, δ18O, Δ17O, Δ47, Δ48), based on infra-red absorption spectrum measurements in a region (λ ≈ 2 μm) with a hundredfold CO2 absorption relative to the region (λ ≈ 1,6 μm) currently used for (δ13C, δ18O, Δ17O) measurements by VCOF-CRDS (V-Cavity Optical Feedback Cavity Ring-Down Spectroscopy). This unique instrument will target a wide range of paleo-environmental and (hydro/bio)-geochemical applications relevant to archeologic time scales (100 to 10,000 years) as well as geologic time scales (10,000 years to 500 million years). It will be widely open to the national and international science community through the PANOPLY analytical facility, and will strengthen the « isotopie laser » facility at LSCE.
