Summary :
The “Rencontres Franciliennes de Mécanique” (RFM) are organised annually by the Fédération Francilienne de Mécanique (F2M). This year, RFM2025 aims to provide an overview of the contributions of materials mechanics, structural mechanics, and processing techniques to the preservation of our cultural heritage. The event will take place over two days: the first day will focus on museum heritage, and the second on architectural heritage. The first half-day will address the role of mechanics in the conservation of museum artifacts, including studies on the thermo-hygro-mechanical behaviour of wooden panels, issues related to vibrations in museums, and the instrumentation and modelling of paintings and historic textiles. The second half-day will be devoted to the acoustic studies of musical instruments, linked to reconstruction challenges or the understanding of their functioning. The second day will be entirely dedicated to architectural heritage. The morning session will focus on the Notre-Dame restoration project, highlighting four disciplinary fields: the mechanics of masonry structures, timber frameworks, metallic components, and stained-glass windows. Finally, the last half-day will cover ancient heritage materials and instrumentation methods for monitoring the structural health of historic buildings.
