Supported projects

We propose creating a web platform that, using tools for analyzing and recoding multilingual bibliographic data (initially in UNIMARC format), followed by geovisualization tools, will enable the spatiotemporal exploration and mapping of printed collections in “minority” languages. Catalogs from libraries preserving printed works in Esperanto and Yiddish will be used to develop and validate the tool and its features. This geographic data visualization tool will open up new analytical possibilities for researchers working on the relevant linguistic communities, and will enable curators at preservation institutions to access an interactive map of their collections, using the latest geovisualization tools. The platform’s code will be published and reusable, and can be extended to other catalogs and linguistic communities.
