Summary :
On the occasion of the 140th anniversary of Esperanto, this international conference (Paris Condorcet June 9-11.2027) will offer an interdisciplinary examination of the evolution of this unique linguistic, social, and cultural phenomenon. It will explore Esperanto as an object of research in the humanities and social sciences, moving beyond its linguistic dimension to consider its historical, political, social, literary, and cultural significance. The conference will focus in particular on the distinctive features of Esperanto’s material transnational heritage: archives, libraries, manuscripts, correspondence, printed works, photographs, and other artefacts now dispersed across the world, often outside professional heritage institutions. Particular attention will be given to the challenges of preserving, digitizing, describing, and connecting these collections, as well as to the ways in which digital humanities approaches are opening new perspectives for their study and dissemination.
